ABA Board Refines Policy Regarding Ethics Continuing Education Required for Recertification

The Board of Governors of the American Board of Audiology™ recently refined its policy regarding the types of presentations that will meet the ABA three-hour ethics requirement for recertification.

In precisely defining the types of presentations that will meet the ABA’s ethics requirement for recertification, the ABA Board recently approved the following policy:

Continuing education activities that directly pertain to ethics may be counted towards the ABA 3 hour ethics requirement per three-year certification period.  Presentation abstracts must clearly indicate that audiology ethics are a significant part of the subject matter.  Likely candidates include activities such as:

  • Scope of practice
  • Fair billing practices
  • Confidentiality
  • HIPAA
  • Other topics directly related to professional codes of ethics (deemed appropriate by ABA)

The ABA Ethics has final authority concerning which activities are acceptable for ABA ethics hours.

Please make a note of this as you are earning your continuing education hours for recertification.  For more information about ABA recertification, visit the recertification section of the site. Have any questions or concerns?  Please don’t hesitate to contact the ABA at aba@audiology.org or toll-free at 1.800.881.5410
